The gallery represents around 40 of the Bay Area's top emerging artists in a friendly and unpretentious environment. Part-Time Art Consultant
We are seeking a high-energy, service-oriented Part-Time Art Consultant to work in our high-traffic San Francisco gallery at least 32 hours per week. Compensation will be determined by qualifications and level of experience, ranging from $13 to $15 per hour.
The Art Consultant's job is an opportunity to participate in all aspects of the gallery's operations. This includes but is not limited to:
- Selling artwork.
- Interacting with gallery visitors, actively recruiting new clients, and maintaining existing clients.
- Educating gallery visitors about Hang Art, our artists, and our program offerings.
- Maintaining artwork inventory by keeping inventory area organized and processing new works for consignment.
- Corresponding with artists.
- Assisting in selection of new artworks by our current artists.
- Managing our art portfolio submissions and reviewing prospective artist portfolios.
- Curating and installing exhibitions, both in-gallery and online.
- Stuffing envelopes, sweeping floors, touching up the walls- everything required to keep the gallery operating efficiently.
The ideal candidate:
- Must be able to work a rotational schedule totaling 32 hours per week. The schedule is predominantly Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; it requires working three weekends per month as well as our evening opening on the first Thursday of each month. (NOTE: This schedule is not negotiable at this time. Please do not apply to the position if you cannot commit to this schedule.)
- Has at least a bachelor's degree, preferably in fine art or art history.
- Has knowledge of and passion for fine art and art history.
- Knows how to handle and store fine art, including the ability to lift and maneuver heavy and/or large artworks.
- Possesses excellent communication and sales skills, as well as professional work experience.
- Has a highly proficient knowledge of MS Word and Excel. A working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, HTML, and web publishing are a plus.
- Lives in San Francisco.
- Is familiar with Hang Art and our website, www.hangart.com.
- Is energetic and possesses a positive work ethic, a team attitude, and a sense of humor.

Part-Time Technology and Design Administrator
We are seeking a high-energy, service-oriented Part-Time Technology and Design Administrator to work in our high-traffic San Francisco gallery at least 32 hours per week. Compensation will be determined by qualifications and level of experience, ranging from $13 to $16 per hour.
Duties for the Technology and Design Administrator include, but are not limited to:
- Updating the website with artwork images, artist information, and gallery content.
- Introducing and implementing new designs and ideas for the gallery, our program, and our branding.
- Managing artwork image archives.
- Generating content for marketing efforts and maintaining active social media accounts, including but not limited to Hang Art's blog, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.
- Designing and sending electronic newsletters and maintaining database of contacts.
- Designing and implementing monthly postcards and advertisements.
- Maintaining the gallery's profile on affiliate website directories.
- Administering and overseeing in-house technical support.
- Supervising and maintaining server.
The Technology and Design Administrator's role is also an opportunity to participate in all aspects of the gallery's operations, which includes but is not limited to:

INTERNSHIPS

Gallery Director Internship
All Hang Art internships are unpaid and must be completed for school credit at an accredited university. Schedule is flexible.
The Gallery Director Internship at Hang Art provides a wide variety of experience, from understanding artist relations and refining communication skills to managing a fine art inventory and handling art. In a fast-paced environment, the Gallery Director Intern will work directly with Hang Art's Director in the following capacity:
- Maintain and update contacts database.
- Compile marketing research and implement initiatives.
- Write and transcribe general correspondence and other copy.
- File various records and correspondence.
- Maintain office, artwork inventory, and exhibition spaces.
- Research exhibitions and assist with artwork installation.
- Help with exhibition layouts and artwork installation.
- Participate in prospective artist presentations and evaluate portfolio submissions.
- Complete other tasks as assigned.
Ideal candidates should embody the following traits:
- Enthusiasm and ability to learn all gallery functions.
- Professional, outgoing, personable demeanor.
- Excellent communication skills, especially via phone.
- Proactive work ethic with ability to prioritize and problem solve.
- Acute attention to detail.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Willingness to complete various tasks.
- Aptitude for inner-city traveling.
- Proficiency with PCs, Windows (primarily Excel and Word), and Adobe Acrobat.
