Jeff Dikio
Portfolio  |  Biography
Jeff Dikio photo Jeff Dikio's paintings are narrations of life choices with simplicity of form and a distinctive personal painting style. In his figurative works, sparse landscapes rendered in a rich, dark palette focus the attention on the psychological state of his solitary personages. They are latent beings, caught between moments, and seemingly never catching up to where they might have been. Equally, his unique application of paint lends the ethereal quality of refracted light to his interpretations of landscapes.

As a contemporary artist, Dikio is deeply influenced by the history of painting. The practice has a weighty and vaunted canon of which Dikio is a careful student. He looks closely at artists such as Turner, Olivera, and Twombly and develops his own work in tight relation to theirs and their place in art history.

The artist earned his BFA in painting at UC Santa Cruz and participated in a study abroad program in Prague. He has exhibited regularly in San Francisco and Santa Cruz since 1996.
