Olivia Brown creates paintings to transform her observational and physical experiences of movement into visual abstractions. In her ongoing studies of all forms of movement, she finds common ground of innate energetic wisdom within each type. She applies the kinetic knowledge embedded within these physical movements to her painting practice, utilizing the fluid French enamel varnish as her primary medium on canvas. In her current body of work, Brown explores ideas of separation and shifting to create new spaces of impenetrable impossibility.

Originally from England, Brown received a B.A. from Chelsea College of London and an M.F.A. from California College of Art in San Francisco. Her artwork has been exhibited in London, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Southern California. Olivia Brown currently lives and works in Marin County.
