Olivia Brown's paintings are investigations of movement, space and time. In addition to painting, Olivia has a daily modern dance practice that inspires her observation of fluidity and movement. As a result, her paintings are vivid splashes and washes of color, creating organic forms of beauty and painterly vitality that coalesce on the canvas.
Olivia relies on both chance and intention in making the work. She pours and pushes the fast drying pigmented medium on the surface of the canvas. The free-flowing properties of the media as well as her articulated and released movement of the body create the imagery. The result is unpredictable, dissonant and harmonious.
Olivia received her MFA at CCA in and her BA from Chelsea College of London. She has exhibited her work in London and San Francisco.
