On her daily walks through a strip of land between her home and the sea, Lisa Kairos accumulates sensory impressions and visual memories of the landscape. Ultimately she brings this information back to the studio where she translates this repetitive perception in her paintings.

Time and time again Kairos challenges her practice by creating a descriptive and compelling visual vocabulary from this cacophony of sensory input. She compresses elements of the landscape, such as light, color, line of sight, plant forms, precipitation, multiple perspectives, permeability, arc of sky, and depth of field, into singular memories. The resulting paintings are neither purely figurative nor abstract.

A native Californian, Kairos received her bachelors degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She has exhibited extensively across the country. Kairos lives and works in Half Moon Bay, California.
