Private Event FAQ

Q: I am an artist/curator, can I rent Hang Art to host my own art exhibition?
A: We do not rent the gallery to display artwork other than that of our artists.

Q: Do you offer non-profit rates?
A: Yes, if you are a qualifying non-profit organization we can send you additional information. Please make a note in the Additional Requests section of the Quote Inquiry form.

Q: What is the biggest variable in determining the price for my event?
A: The time of your event can alter the price significantly. If your times are flexible, please make a note in the Additional Requests section of the Quote Inquiry form.

Q: Can I choose the artworks on display for my event?
A: Yes, for an additional fee you may choose artworks from our inventory to be on display at your event.

Q: If my guests are attending on a rolling basis can I invite more than 75 people?
A: Yes, our maximum capacity is 75 guests at one time. If your guests arrive and leave at staggered times we can accommodate a larger guest list.

Holding your private event at Hang Art is perfect for any function from celebrations and social networking to presentations and seminars. Our space is rich with quality artworks created by San Francisco Bay Area artists. An event at Hang Art will have the creative edge to inspire and make a memorable experience.

Located just off Union Square, Hang Art is one story above street level and offers a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows facing lively Sutter Street. Our exhibited art collection changes at least twice monthly ensuring your events will always be fresh and unique.

The gallery can accommodate up to 75 guests and can comfortably seat 40. To help plan your event we can provide a list of our preferred vendors or you may choose your own approved by Hang Art. To ensure a smooth event, a Hang Art member is always on site and available to answer any questions about the space and artworks on display.

To make organizing your event straight-forward we have created three base structures with set times and pricing. Any of these events can be customized to accommodate your interests and needs.

THE MIXER 2 Hour Event 4:30PM - 8:00PM $2,300
THE MEET AND GREET 3.5 Hour Event 4:00PM - 9:00PM $3,100
THE DINNER BELL 5 Hour Event 3:30PM - 11:00PM $4,400
*Price based on facility rental only. Access hours account for set-up and cleanup. Price does not include caterer, bar services, furniture rental and/or AV equipment rentals. Once a caterer is selected, renter must confirm timeline with the gallery. Non-profit rates are available to qualifying oranizations.

Additional Time $300 / each 30 min If your event requires additional time, you may add onto the above package(s) in increments of 30 minutes.
Custom Curation $1,600 Partial

Work with our curator to customize the look of your event by selecting specific artworks or artists from our extensive inventory. Hang Art will then arrange the artworks throughout the gallery, or a portion thereof.
Furniture Removal $150 for chairs/bench
$1,600 for desks/computer
Any regular gallery furniture including, desks, chairs, benches, may be removed and stored on-site.
Internet Usage $50 / Day Access to gallery DSL at current speeds. Additional networking maybe required by renter.
Overage Fee $350 / each 30 min Should your event run past contracted time an overage fee will be billed in increments of 30 minutes.
Electricity Overage $10 / hr Should media outside of day to day gallery use be utilized this additional charge may be applied.

The Details
What information should I know when renting Hang Art gallery for my event?
  • Our space holds up to 75 guests and can seat 40 for served dinner events.
  • We are located on the second floor of a three-floor building. We do not have an elevator or wheel chair access.
  • A caterer is required for all events. You may choose your own caterer (with Hang Art approval) or we have a preferred list to choose from.
  • Alcohol consumption is permissible and only responsibly so. Serving liquor requires a licensed bartender.
  • No open flames are allowed in gallery at any time, including ambiance candles and cooking appliances.
  • All dates are on a first come first serve basis. We require a $500.00 non-refundable reservation fee to secure your date
  • Some supplies, including a stereo system are available for use if arranged in advance and for an additional fee.
  • An event rental contract is signed at reservation outlining expectations of care and use of the facilities and its contents.
