ANDREW MILLS
ABOUT ANDREW MILLS
Andrew Mills
b. 1976
Andrew Mills starts with a color and a general idea of a vista. Ruminating on the spiritual in nature, he takes his oil paints for a walk along his canvas, creating passages often to be painted over. The result, a lush conversation with the traditions of landscape painting entwined with abstract expressionism. They are neither here nor there, allowing the viewer to chart their own journey.
Mills earned his B.F.A. at The University of Minnesota, Minneapolis MN and completed his M.F.A. at the San Francisco Art Institute. Mills has exhibited both locally and nationally, including Minneapolis Institute of Art, SFMOMA Annex, and the Plymouth Art Center. He maintains a studio and lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughter.
